Clovelly Primary School

Higher Clovelly, Bideford, Devon, EX39 5SU (Group: 1, Salary range: L6-L12)
Acting Head Teacher for Spring and Summer Terms 2010
This post is advertised in Devon Choice and on the Devon Job Vacancies Site. Closing date 21 October 2009. For an application form contact Devon Learning and Development Partnership,
admin.headships@devon.gov.uk

Clovelly is one of the most scenic schools in Devon with breathtaking views. The post will offer interesting and rewarding challenges to the appointee. We are a small school with 14 on roll at the present time and expect a further 3 pupils in January 2010. It is anticipated that we shall emerge from SCC, or TISP at the end of 2009, but due to our small size we are seeking to enter federation by academic year 2010-11. For the intervening two terms a strong leader is sought, capable of capitalizing on the excellent work that has been done in raising the school out from its intervention status, and able to both encourage and develop those aspects identified as satisfactory and ensuring the weaker areas continue to improve, and that slippage is eliminated.
In return, the school will offer the opportunity to work in a close-knit community, actively supported by a positive and forward looking Governing body, with a truly family atmosphere. You will be supporting two Teachers, two TA’s, and have the support of a full time bursar. You will be helping to lead the school into federation to ensure its long term viability, and future challenges. The post is one which offers a great career development for head teacher at the beginning of their role but would equally give an experienced practitioner an opportunity to continue to develop the school.
Applicants are advised that this is a teaching position and those seeking secondment must ensure that they have agreement in principle from their governing body to apply for this post.
